Technical Specialist - Azure & Infrastructure
Position Overview
We are looking for a Technical Specialist to join our Managed Services business.

In this role, you will deliver end-to-end infrastructure projects across customer environments, leading technical work from discovery and design through implementation, migration, testing and handover. The role provides hands-on delivery across core infrastructure technologies, reviews scopes and estimates for technical accuracy and deliverability, and combines customer-facing consultancy with technical leadership and problem-solving.

Salary & Benefits

The budgeted salary for this role is between £60,000 - £75,000 a year, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Leading infrastructure projects from discovery and design through to implementation, testing, migration and operational handover

• Delivering hands-on technical work across Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server, Azure, VMware, storage, backup and recovery, Azure Virtual Desktop, security and management tooling

• Supporting data centre migration and decommissioning activities

• Reviewing and validating scopes of work, delivery assumptions and effort estimates

• Ensuring technical plans are accurate, complete, realistic and achievable

• Providing senior customer-facing consultancy throughout project delivery

• Solving complex technical issues and support project decision-making

• Leading small work packages and engineering teams to deliver successful outcomes

• Projects are delivered confidently end-to-end, with technical work completed accurately from discovery and design through to implementation, migration, testing and handover

• Customers trust your expertise, seeing you as a credible, professional advisor who communicates clearly and handles complex infrastructure challenges effectively

• Technical delivery is high quality and dependable, with solutions that are well-designed, secure, realistic, and aligned to customer requirements

• Work is well managed and commercially sound, with scopes, assumptions and effort estimates that are accurate, achievable and support successful delivery

• You add leadership value to the team, helping to solve problems, guide engineers, lead small work packages and contribute to smooth, successful project outcomes

Qualifications & Experience

The right candidate for this role will have:

• Strong end-to-end infrastructure project delivery experience, from discovery and design through to implementation, migration, testing and handover

• Deep hands-on technical expertise across core infrastructure platforms, especially Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Server, Azure and VMware

• Experience delivering across supporting infrastructure services, such as storage, file services, backup and recovery, Azure Virtual Desktop, security and management tooling

• Proven ability to deliver complex migrations and transformation work, including data centre migration and decommissioning

• Strong technical design and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate customer requirements into practical, supportable solutions

• Experience reviewing and validating scopes of work, assumptions and effort estimates to ensure delivery is realistic, accurate and achievable

• Customer-facing consultancy skills, including strong communication, stakeholder management and the ability to build credibility with clients

• Ability to lead small work packages or engineering teams, providing technical direction and ensuring quality delivery

• Good understanding of infrastructure security, operational standards and service handover requirements

• Strong documentation and governance discipline, including producing clear designs, implementation plans, test evidence and handover material
