Position Overview
We are looking for a proactive and confident Debt Collector to join our finance team in Cape Town. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, resolving account queries, and helping improve cash flow through effective collections and stakeholder engagement. Reporting to the Group Credit Control Manager, you will manage a portfolio of customer accounts, follow up on overdue balances, and support accurate, timely collections across the business.
Salary & Benefits
The budgeted salary for this role is between 18,000 ZAR - 20,000 ZAR a month, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
Managing a portfolio of customer accounts and ensuring invoices are paid in line with agreed terms.
Contacting customers by phone and email to follow up on overdue balances and secure payment commitments.
Reviewing aged debt reports and prioritising collection activity based on risk and value.
Investigating and resolving payment delays, invoice disputes, allocation issues, and account queries.
Reconciling customer accounts and maintaining accurate payment and collection records.
Escalating complex, high-risk, or long-outstanding accounts where required.
Working closely with internal finance teams, operations, sales, and external customers to resolve issues quickly.
Supporting month-end collection targets, debtor reviews, and reporting requirements.
Maintaining accurate notes, follow-up actions, and promised payment dates in the finance or ERP.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in cash collection, credit control
Experience working with UK clients or UK customer accounts would be advantageous.
Exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central would be advantageous.
Confidence engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Comfortable handling complex accounts, including disputed balances, overdue debt, reconciliations, and multiple stakeholder queries.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow up firmly but professionally.
Good attention to detail, strong organisation skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
A self-motivated team player who can work independently and contribute positively to a wider finance function.
