Salary & Benefits
The budgeted salary for this role is between R35,000 – R45,000

Responsibilities
· Act as the operational lead during a live SOC shift, maintaining oversight of alerts, investigations, and incidents across multiple customers and technologies
· Perform end‑of‑shift analysis, consolidating multiple investigations into a clear operational summary for the incoming shift.
· Deliver Exceptional Service: Respond promptly and courteously to customer queries and complaints, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
· Ownership & Resolution: Take charge of incidents and requests, managing them effectively through resolution or escalation.
· Effective Troubleshooting: Utilize targeted questioning and troubleshooting skills to resolve issues efficiently.
· Team Collaboration: Actively participate as a team member, ensuring both personal and team objectives are met.
· Client Relationship Management: Maintain professional relationships with clients and colleagues while exceeding customer expectations.
· Risk Reporting: Identify and report potential risks impacting clients, along with customer feedback and product requests.
· Continuous Development: Work on your personal development plan in collaboration with your line manager.
· Flexibility & Availability: Be available during your scheduled shifts, including potential shift rotations.
· System Support: Troubleshoot and support a variety of systems, ensuring all service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
· Additional Duties: Undertake any other tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
· Hands‑on experience working in a SOC using SIEM and security tooling, with the ability to interpret and summarise investigative findings across a shift
· Relevant experience in a Security Operations Centre or related field.
· Strong understanding of security best practices and industry standards such as CIS, NIST, and ISO.
· Knowledge of security tools and technologies including firewalls, antivirus, IDS/IPS, and SIEM platforms.
· Industry-recognised security certifications (e.g., GCIH, GCIA, OSCP, CISSP, CSSP).
· Understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
· Knowledge of common network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
· Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Bash.
· Experience with incident response procedures and investigations.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
· 2 years + working in a Security operations environment
· Working within MSP is preferable
