Job Purpose
As the Internal Azure Data Engineer in the Enterprise Business Systems (EBS) department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing data solutions on the Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 cloud platforms. You will create and maintain data pipelines, data storage solutions, data processing, data integration and data classification automation to enable data-driven decision-making within the organisation
You will work alongside the Architect’s in EBS and the Data Protection Officer (DPO) to build the data architecture and develop and configure the related tools to ensure the architecture is implemented and aligns with the data governance policies and compliance requirements of the business
You’ll be expected to help mentor and train a data analyst in finance to administer and maintain the existing Datawarehouse systems built on Azure principals and tools
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and manage scalable, high-performance, and cost-effective data storage systems using Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Cosmos DB, and Azure Blob Storage.
- Develop and implement data integration processes using Azure Data Factory to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources into data warehouses or data lakes.
- Utilize big data technologies like Azure Databricks and Apache Spark to handle and analyse large volumes of data. Create data processing workflows and pipelines to support data analytics, machine learning, and other data-driven applications.
- Work closely with various departments, including IT, finance, and business teams, to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Maintain detailed documentation of data solutions, including architecture, processes, and maintenance procedures.
- Ensure data solutions comply with security policies and regulations. Implement data governance and protection measures.
- Build and maintain Power BI reports for purposes of business reporting and data validation
Experience and Qualifications
- Proven year’s of experience in a similar role, preferably within a large organization or a technology-driven environment.
- Experience managing data projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes.
- Proficiency in Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake Store Gen 2, CosmosDB) and M365 services (e.g., SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate).
- Experience with programming languages such as SQL, Python, and R for data manipulation and analysis.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and data architecture principles.
- Ability to analyze complex data sets and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present data findings effectively.

Budgeted salary range for this role is £50000 - £60,000 and Benefits.
